OUR APPROACH
In our Pre-Prep, our approach is to support and encourage the children to build the strongest possible foundations for a school-life full of excitement, interest and above all opportunity. Thanks to our personalised approach, our skilled teachers provide each child with aspirational goals based around their own personal interests and learning objectives.
By working with the children individually we are perfectly placed to accentuate their skills and interests whilst at the same time supporting those areas for development, producing children with a rounded, creative enthusiasm and inquisitiveness for the world around them.
PASTORAL CARE
They understand how they learn best, when they are struggling but afraid to ask, when they need challenging and equally, when they need supporting.
With this outstanding level of support in place, our children feel safe and supported and can focus all their energies on learning and development of their amazing talents.
Extra Curricular & clubs
Our Pre-Prep children can explore new talents every day of the week. They can become the chefs in Cookery Club; engineers in Lego Club; dancers in Just Dance Club or Irish Dancing; sports professionals through multisports; the next JK Rowling in Book Club or pioneering scientists in science club.
At Colchester Prep & High School we believe it is important for children to want to be here. That is why we regularly invite parents and children to visit our school.
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Leadership in Pre-Prep is about ensuring our youngest pupils understand that they have a voice and to provide them with the confidence to use it to help shape their lives and the lives of their peers.
TRIPS
To expand their understanding of the world and to reinforce their learning experience, our Pre-Reception pupils have enjoyed visits to Layer Marney Towers to study the Tudors, to Colchester library to encourage a love of reading, to the Natural History museum to support their learning in Science and short walks in the local area to familiarise themselves with their surroundings.
A highlight of the year is always the annual trip to the Mercury Theatre to see the pantomime and our Pre-Prep children were very excited to wave at the King during his 2023 visit to Colchester. In Reception, the children also enjoy a weekly Forest School trip.
